Seared Tuna

🐟 SEARED AHI TUNA! 🐟 Your super delicious, super impressive, new fave recipe.

*Note, this recipe requires sushi or sashimi grade ahi tuna. I purchase mine from a local seafood market where I am confident in their safety and quality. Non marked tuna steaks are not safe to consume raw.

Ingredients:
🐟 ahi tuna steaks (sushi grade!)
🐟 salt and pepper
🐟 sesame seeds
🐟 avocado oil
🐟 scallions
🐟 lime

Optional Salad:
arugula
watercress
avocado
scallion
radish
Dressing: 2 cloves grated garlic, 1 tbl fresh grated ginger, 2Tbl white miso, 2 Tbl rice vinegar, drizzle sesame oil, drizzle avocado oil, lime juice.

Directions:
Pat dry your tuna steaks with a paper towel. [note: do not wash the fish under water!]. Sprinkle each side with salt and pepper. Then coat in sesame seeds [I use black and white].

Heat a cast iron skillet and coat with a little oil. Once the oil is hot, sear the tuna steak for about 90 seconds on each side [depends on how thick the steak is and how rare you prefer your tuna]. Transfer to the tuna steak to a cutting board and allow to cool slightly. Using a sharp knife, slice going with the grain of the meat, and plate on a bed of greens. I love to pair this with an arugula and watercress salad and garnish with radish and avocado. Finish off with chopped scallions and a squeeze of fresh lime juice!
